Swing check valves have a hinge mechanism and a gate like disc that rests freely on the tilted seat surface. Swing check valves allow virtually no obstruction of fluid pressure when fully open, so the pressure drop through the valve is relatively small. The disc of the lift check valve is located on the seat sealing surface of the body. This valve in addition to the valve disc can be free to rise and fall, part of the period as the globe valve, fluid pressure to lift the disc from the seat sealing surface, media backflow causes the disc to fall back to the seat, and cut off the flow.
