Working principle of globe valve

Globe valve, also called intercept, is one of the most widely used valves, it is popular because of the small friction between the sealing surface in the process of opening and closing, relatively durable, open height is not large, easy manufacturing, convenient maintenance, not only suitable for low pressure, but also suitable for high pressure.

The closing principle of the globe valve is to rely on the pressure of the valve bar to make the sealing surface of the valve disc and the sealing surface of the valve seat closely fit to prevent the flow of media.

Globe valve only allows one-way flow of media, directional installation. The structure length of globe valve is larger than gate valve, and the fluid resistance is large, and the sealing reliability is not strong when running for a long time.
Classification of globe valves
Stop valve channel

1. According to the channel direction of the globe valve, it can be divided into:

1) straight-through stop valve

2) straight flow globe valve: in straight flow or Y-shaped globe valve, the flow channel of the valve body and the mainstream path into an oblique line, so that the damage degree of the flow state is smaller than the conventional globe valve, so the pressure loss through the valve is correspondingly small.

3) Angle globe valve: in Angle globe valve, the fluid only needs to change the direction once, so that the pressure drop through the valve is smaller than the conventional structure of the globe valve.

4) Plunger globe valve: this form of globe valve is a variant of conventional globe valve. In this valve, the disc and seat are usually designed on a plunger principle. The disc polished plunger is connected with the stem, and the seal is realized by two elastic sealing rings set on the plunger. The two elastic seals are separated by a sleeve ring and are pressed down around the plunger by a load applied to the bonnet by the bonnet nut. The elastic ring is replaceable and can be made of a wide variety of materials. The valve is mainly used “on” or “off”, but has a special form of plunger or special ring and can also be used to regulate flow.
Position of thread

2 according to the position of the thread on the stem of the globe valve can be divided:

1) threaded stem globe valve: Globe valve stem threads outside the body. Its advantage is that the valve stem is not eroded by the medium, easy to lubrication, this structure is more common.

2) Under thread stem globe valve: globe valve stem threads in the body. Stem threads in this design are in direct contact with the medium and are vulnerable to erosion and are not lubricated. This structure is used for small diameter and low temperature places.
